Have you ever sent an email and felt an instant pang of regret? Maybe you sent something embarrassing to the wrong person or forgot an important attachment. Rather than try to reach through your computer screen to pull the massage back, here’s a quick and easy way to unsend an email in Outlook. (At least long enough to correct it.)
It’s important to note this tip is different than the recall message functionality built into Outlook. That feature is filled with exceptions, and I find it to be unreliable. Instead, the following tip simply builds in a buffer – a length of time of your choosing — before the email is sent that gives you a chance to undo it.
Also note that there is no magic technology that can reliably pull back messages you didn’t mean to send once they are sent. Anyway, here is the step by step.
