The bottom line is, backup tape is your best value when it comes to reliably storing large amounts of data, as illustrated by this FujiFilm infographic.

The world’s information is doubling every two years, according to a recent Digital Universe study. As demand increases, where will all this data be stored reliably and cost effectively? Some experts say the future lies in advanced modern data tape.

Indeed, several new technologies have yielded unprecedented backup tape cartridge capacity increases, longer media life, improved bit error rates and superior economics to previous tape or disk technology. One of the companies at the forefront of the tape industry’s renaissance is FUJIFILM Recording Media USA, which produces more tape than any other manufacturer. The company recently made a comparison between tape and disk and concluded that from cost to energy consumption, tape is better in most ways.
